Abstract

Enuresis is the involuntary discharge of urine which usually occurs in children during night sleep after the age in which control of the urinary bladder should have been acquired. A study was conducted between the months of may 2010 and june 2011 by the Traditional and Natural Medicine department of the Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Docente Octavio de la Concepción y la Pedraja in Holguín. The universe and the sample were made up of 42 patients, and the aim was to contribute to the treatment of nocturnal enuresis in children over 5 years through natural techniques. It also determined the most affected age groups: 6 to 8 years, 9 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years. Male was the most prevalent gender. The possible etiologic factors were established. The results showed that moxibustion accompanied by acupressure is an effective treatment that can be applied by the nurse as an independent technique. In this condition, the most influential etiological factor was the one related to sleep.
