Abstract

Objective: to determine the perception of bone marrow transplant patients on continuity of care throughout the process.
Design: descriptive qualitative study using a questionnaire. Study population: 8 patients from the Hematology-Oncology department of Hospital General Juan Ramón Jiménez in Huelva. Technical data collection: A questionnaire was used. Data analysis: The transcript of the questionnaire was literal.
Results: all the patients agreed that they had a reference nurse when they were discharged and they were explained all the care that had to continue after the hospital discharge. Not all patients were contacted by the health center when they were discharged from the hospital and not all of them knew their liaison nurse. Finally, they felt well cared for by professionals who followed their process up.
Conclusions: patients' perception regarding the continuity of care throughout the process they are subjected to was good as they all had a reference nurse, they were discharged by nursing department, they were explained all the care they should follow at home, all came into contact with their health centre, either because the health centre contacted them or because they contacted the health centre, most knew their liaison nurse and were satisfied with how they were treated by professionals.
