Abstract

A study of educational intervention aimed at changing knowledge about alcoholism in the nursing staff belonging to Policlínico Universitario José Marti Perez, Santiago de Cuba municipality was carried out for one year. The sample consisted of 13 nurses, who attended an educational program of one hour classes, weekly over six weeks in which the knowledge before and after the intervention was analyzed. At the conclusion of the study the level of knowledge about alcoholism in the study group changed positively. It was recommended to extend this type of study to other basic working groups.
