Abstract

One of the major concerns of professionals who attend or prepare the mother during childbirth as well as of the women themselves is preventing perineal tears and episiotomies because of the high morbidity they generate.
Currently different perineal techniques and interventions are used to prevent perineal trauma. These interventions include perineal massage, hot compresses and perineal management techniques.

Often vaginal deliveries are associated with some form of genital tract trauma that sometimes can be associated with significant problems for women in the short and long term.

This is particularly serious or uncomfortable for women when they are third and fourth grade tears affecting the anal sphincter or mucosa and they can cause many problems.
