Abstract

This review article was prepared as class work in the subject of research methodology applied to nursing science, and it presents the lessons learned through a literature search on the "Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis" (SSPE) disease, its clinical manifestations, prevention of disease, possible treatments, brain areas most affected, the diagnosis of SSPE and some cases of this disease, such as a study of SSPE virus in mice, the case of an 18 year old man who died a year after being diagnosed with the disease. This last patient described shows us the importance of vaccination against the measles virus.
