Abstract

A study of therapeutic intervention in patients with scabies admitted to the long-stay care facility for chronically mentally ill “El Viso”, was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of confitillo tincture at 30% in the treatment of scabies. The study group consisted of 50 patients 30 years or older diagnosed with scabies. The information was processed under the SPSS 11.5 statistical package, using absolute values, percentages and arithmetic means as summary measures, as well as using the chi square test considering its significance when p < 0.05. It was shown that confitillo tincture at 30% was as effective in therapeutic treatment of scabies as permethrin 1%, which potentially makes it an excellent alternative antisarcoptic. It is recommended to study the confitillo tincture proprieties further for treating scabies and extend its application to other hospital entities and the general population.
