Abstract

Breastfeeding is the best food for the newborn, from the early days with colostrum and even when initiating the introduction of food. The problem lies in the early days of the newborn when, for various reasons, the colostrum provided is not enough for the baby and there is a suspected neonatal hypoglycaemia.

Today hypoglycemia remains a clinical problem in the neonate and there is a lot of controversy both in diagnosis and clinical management.

Our goal in this review is to present new evidence on the management of neonatal hypoglycemia to promote exclusive breastfeeding and avoid the systematic use of artificial formulas.
