Care for caregivers of patients with dementia

Abstract
Purpose: To identify published studies on nursing care interventions for caregivers of patients with dementia.
Method: A systematic scientific literature review covering the last five years was performed in several reference databases, including: Cinahl, Cochrane library, Cuidatge, Cuiden, Enfispo, Dialnet, Medline, and Psycinfo.
Results: Selected papers report different interventions. Psychoeducational programs are reported in 46.15%.
Conclusions: Regardless of the specific intervention applied, results are favorable for some caregiver variables. In some cases, however, results do not persist on the long term.
