Resumen
El accidente cerebrovascular (ACV) tiene una gran incidencia y un gran impacto a nivel físico, psicosocial y económico en la sociedad actual. Por lo tanto, se crea la necesidad de proveer de una buena atención sanitaria que permita la rehabilitación de estas personas. En los últimos años ha habido un incremento del uso de recursos complementarios a la medicina tradicional con este fin, tales como la musicoterapia. Con esta revisión bibliográfica nos proponemos identificar qué se conoce sobre el efecto de la musicoterapia en la rehabilitación de pacientes con ACV, qué se ha investigado y qué aspectos permanecen desconocidos. Se realiza una lectura crítica de 18 artículos que describen efectos positivos tanto a nivel físico como psicosocial. Se concluye que la aplicación sistemática de la musicoterapia en la rehabilitación de estos pacientes debería incorporarse a la terapia habitual. Se detecta también la necesidad de seguir investigando en este área.

Abstract:
A cerebrovascular accident (CVA), commonly referred as stroke, has a high incidence and great impact on the patient´s physical and psychosocial condition and constitutes a high economic burden in today’s society. This brings the need to promote good health care that encompasses the rehabilitation of patients who have suffered a stroke. In recent years, there has been in increase in the use of additional resources apart from traditional medicine aimed at achieving the recovery of these patients. One of these resources is music therapy. This review of the literature sought to identify the information available on the effect of music therapy on the rehabilitation of stroke patients, what has been investigated so far, and what aspects remain unknown. A critical reading review of 18 papers describing positive effects - both at physical and psychosocial level- is carried out. It is concluded that the systematic application of music therapy in the rehabilitation of these patients should be included in the standard regular therapy they receive. A need to continue research in this field is also identified.
