Abstract

This article aims to expose and to analyze an important subject in quantitative nursing research: bias control. To this end, a conceptual review has been made according to the type of bias as well as an in-depth analysis of the different ways to avoid these biases when designing, implementing and analyzing the data of a given research.
This document is intended to generate a working tool for the novel nursing researcher that handles basic research concepts but who needs to go beyond such concepts and gain further insight into practical applications.
It is of interest for us to highlight as strong points of this article: the gathering and updating of aspects that are ispersed
in the literature into one single document, the practical orientation of the contents approached, and the exemplification of situations that, on the one side, help to understand the said contents and, on the other, are framed within research situations in Community Nursing.
