Abstract

Introduction: Caregivers are the mainstay for community health care. Thus, nursing guidelines used in workshops with caregivers are particularly relevant, and should be updated and valued.
Purpose: To assess and update the Guideline for workshops with caregivers in the Healthcare District Valle del Guadalhorce at Málaga.
Material and methods: Once the identified guide had been selected, a literature search for Spanish-language guidelines for caregivers, systematic reviews and meta-analysis was carried out, and the guide was evaluated with the AGREE II tool, adapted to the specific guideline.
Results: Three areas that could be improved were found; scope and aim, team for developing the guideline, methodology, presentation, format, application, and assessment of the guideline. A set of contributions and proposals are provided; they are intended to update and optimize the present guideline.
Discussion and conclusions: Our evaluation has allowed a guideline updating to be performed. The updated guideline should be tested and implemented in practice to improve healthcare outcomes from workshops and, as a result, to improve caregivers' quality of life and health. Regular evaluation of the guideline is important to keep it updated and effective.
