Abstract

Badoo is a popular social network among teenagers that is being used to interact with either a close or remote social setting or environment. We aimed at exploring water pipe smoking in a group of teenagers using this social network. An exploratory, descriptive, qualitative investigation was carried out by means of an online survey. Overall, 28 teenagers had ever used a shisha y nine among them were currently using it. Such teenagers had friends that smoked flavored tobacco at home or with friends. Reported reasons for using shisha were to have a trial, curiosity, friends pressure, just for fun, or because they liked it. Regarding the potential effects of shisha smoking on health, many teenagers stated this was healthier than smoking cigarettes.
