Abstract

Introduction: the place of residence is becoming increasingly important within the axes for inequality in health. The sense of rural community is not only framed within a territorial and demographic area. Nursing has been positioned as the link between the multidisciplinary team and the community, bringing health services closer to rural practices. The asset model provides tools to address health promotion in the community setting.
Objective: to exemplify the application of Community Care based on Health Assets in the rural population setting.
Methodology: a bibliographic review and adaptation of the Guidelines for Recommendations of Health Assets for Primary Care by the Government of Aragon in the specific case of the Basic Health Area (BHA) of Valderrobres.
Results: there is limited evidence about community care based on health assets in the Spanish rural setting. The Valderrobres BHA (Teruel) has not completed the section on assets recommendation at the published community agenda.
Discussion: previous studies have endorsed the importance of support networks in the rural setting, and their work in terms of social and community actions.
Conclusions: there is a strong link between community members in the rural setting; therefore, the identification, registration and dissemination of health assets must be encouraged.
