In this setting, professionals must act with sensitivity and effectiveness, in search for the best care for them. The primary objective of this study is to analyse the evidence about the most specific nursing care adapted to the scenario of violence against women. Methodology: a bibliographic review of scientific publications was conducted in the following Health Sciences databases: BVS, Cuiden, Dialnet, Lilacs, Pubmed, Cielo, and the Cochrane library, limited to the period from 2018 to 2023. Fifteen (15) articles which met selection criteria were chosen. Results: of the articles selected, five were about the tools, eight about the importance of nurses; six about nursing care, and 10 about the barriers preventing care; more than one variable was discussed in many of them. Conclusions: there is consensus regarding the usefulness of tools, as well as unanimity about the importance of nursing professionals as the health agents closest to these women. Besides, the writers talk about the development of activities such as support for strengthening and autonomy, and the improvement of self-esteem, as part of the nursing care which should be offered to women suffering abuse. Finally, the barriers hindering an effective healthcare response are: false beliefs and low knowledge of this matter.
