Objective: to collect in one single document those studies where the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ-24) was used as data collection method. Material and Methods: a narrative review in five electronic databases (PubMed/Medline, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library and Scopus) in January 2024. Results: out of 62 records located, 37 studies were selected for this review according to inclusion/ exclusion criteria. The majority of these studies were articles from scientific journals that had been published in English during 2020 and originated in the United States: descriptive cross-sectional studies on patients with Type 2 diabetes. Besides the DKQ-24, other instruments and measurements were also used, including the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) and the HbA1c levels in blood, respectively. Conclusion: this is the first review focused on analysing the studies where the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ-24) was used.
