Abstract

Objective: to analyse the dimensions of academic burnout, mental health and sociodemographic variables of nursing students at the COVID-19 post-pandemic period at a Public University. Method: a prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study, conducted with 174 students during February 2024, using the 15-item tool for academic burnout assessment (MBI-HSS), and the GHQ-28 tool for mental health evaluation: somatic symptoms, anxiety and insomnia, social dysfunction and depression, containing an Informed Consent capsule and a sociodemographic survey. Data analysis was conducted with the SPSS V-22 statistical program, with central trend measures, Pearson correlations and T-test. Results: there were 174 participants (n= 174), 75.3% were female and the majority were single (97.1%), with an average age of 19.87 years. The presence of academic burnout was detected, as well as alterations in mental health. The association between demographic data for academic burnout and mental health was significant. Students presented low (24.7%), medium (61.2%), and high (14.1%) burnout levels. Mental health presented low (16.5%), moderate (19.6%) and high (40.5%) levels, while 23.4% was perceived as healthy. Conclusions: with post-pandemic impact there were aftereffects in physical, psychological and behavioural health, among other school variables.
