Tim Albert Training: preparación de manuscritos para revistas científicas
Resumen
Introducción: el artículo de investigación es el último paso de la misma y sin duda el mejor medio para difundir sus resultados. Sin embargo, aunque en los planes de estudios de las facultades de Ciencias suelen incluir competencias en alguno de los aspectos relacionados con el hecho de publicar, son pocos los que incluyen competencias específicas sobre escritura científica. Muchos investigadores reconocen esta tarea como una de las más difíciles por diferentes razones.
Objetivo: mostrar el abordaje a este problema utilizando el método diseñado por Tim Albert®.
Resultados: el método se articula en torno a diez pasos a través de los cuales identificaremos las reglas del proceso (Paso 1. The game), reflexionaremos sobre nuestras auténticas motivaciones para publicar (Paso 2. The player), elaboraremos un esquema en torno a cinco preguntas clave (Paso 3. The brief), utilizaremos técnicas visuales para organizar la información (Paso 4. Organizing the information), planificaremos la construcción del artículo (Paso 5. Writing a plan), disfrutaremos de la escritura (Paso 6. Write), reescribiremos revisando nuestro artículo en dos niveles (Paso 7. Rewrite), añadiremos tablas, gráficos, bibliografía… (Paso 8. Add the extras) y finalmente, tras pasar por varios tipos de revisores internos (Paso 9. Reviewers), enviaremos el manuscrito a la revista elegida (paso 10. Send the Package).
Conclusión: aunque seguramente el nivel de aplicación final del método varía entre los asistentes, al final del curso todos afirman tener una visión más nítida del camino a seguir para conseguir que su manuscrito tenga una alta probabilidad de ser aceptado en la revista elegida.

Abstract:
Introduction: the research article is the last step of this research, and surely the best way to disseminate their results. However, although the curricula of the health sciences colleges usually include some aspects related to the publishing process, very few include specific skills on scientific writing. Many researchers acknowledge this task as one of the most difficult for several reasons. Objective: To show the stepwise approach to this problem using the method designed by Tim Albert®.
Results: the method is structured around ten steps through which we will identify the rules of the process (Step 1. The Game), we will think about our actual motivation for being published (Step 2. The player), we will prepare a brief around five key questions (Step 3. The brief), we will use visual techniques to organize information (Step 4. Organizing the Information), we will plan the construction of the article (Step 5. Writing a plan), we will enjoy writing (Step 6. Write), we will rewrite it after two levels of reviewing (Step 7. Rewrite), we will add tables, graphs, references… (Step 8. Add the extras), and eventually, after going through several internal reviewers (Step 9. Reviewers), we will send the manuscript to the chosen journal (Step 10. Send the package).

method varies among the attendees, at the end of the course all of them claim to have a clearer vision of the way forward to ensure that their manuscript had a high probability of being accepted by the journal they have chosen.
