Abstract

Blood is a living tissue that cannot be manufactured. Since it is a therapeutic resource in many situations of daily healthcare practice, it is necessary that healthy people contribute with solidarity by donating blood regularly. This practice does not damage health and contributes towards the psychological well being of the donor.

University students are among those subjects of the population that donate blood.
This work has been conducted following the process and methodology of quantitative research. The aim of the work was:

  • To determine as much as possible the degree of information with regard to blood donation of the university community.
  • To describe the donor’s profile and the non donor profile.
  • To attempt to determine the reason why “non donors” do not donate blood and the justification of the donor to donate blood.
  • To learn to conduct a research study using, in this case, quantitative research methodology.
To carry out this research project, 200 surveys were distributed among university students. After collection of the surveys, the answers were tabulated and conclusions drawn.
