Abstract
This article aims to reflect on the different ways to understand the reality of care and how to gain more insight into it. To do so, we will first take a look at the different science paradigms or traditions throughout history and then will examine the characteristics of the different processes to gain access to knowledge (quantitative and qualitative research methodology). Finally, we will present some thoughts that advocate complementarity, convergence, and triangulation of paradigms and methodologies in nursing research.
