Abstract
This is an exploratory, descriptive study based on the findings of a bibliographic search of Brazilian scientific publications concerning the Glasgow Coma Scale and neurological nursing in the Health Sciences database. Results were as follows: out of the 31 studies found, a predominance of publications on the use of the Glasgow Coma Scale (29%) was confirmed; the scope of the study was the research of the purely academic curricular core (78.0%); the methodological approach was quantitative in 71% of cases; 54% of sample patients had traumatic brain injury; nursing publications account for 48% of total production. We believe that researching assessment tools for something as complex as conscience is a means that enables nurses to reach a greater knowledge of clinical practice.
