Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are one of leading causes of death in industrialised countries. Each year more people due from cardiovascular diseases than from any other cause. An example of this is that in 2005 17,5 million people died from cardiovascular disease, accounting for 30% of the total amount of deaths (1). This is why it is of outmost importance to determine which diseases are considered to be cardiovascular conditions and to identify which factors trigger their development so that measures can be taken to prevent them.
The objective of cardiovascular prevention is to diminish the enormous morbimortality that exists in developed countries due to cardiovascular disease. To prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular disease, changes must be made in the population’s life style, making people healthier and in so doing, reducing modifiable risk factors.
