Abstract

Objective: the aim of this study is to analyze and interpret the different bibliometric indicators in order to assess the quality of content of the selected articles.
Methods: We selected 15 original articles published in the Enfermería Clínica journal during the period from January to June 2009. The relevant data was collected in a grid, developed by the author, which included the evaluation criteria, and was treated with the software manager SPSS 11.0.
Results: 25% of the publications did not include the main theme in its title, another 25% did not check the background of the issue of the study, 58% did not define key concepts, 50% of cases there was no explicit internal validity and in 56% no external validity either, 82% did not propose improvements and 29% did not solve the issue that justified the investigation.
Conclusions: the review of literature quality is a prerequisite for achieving greater efficiency, because the consultation and citation of bibliographic sources is a sign of maturity of argument and a sign of reliability.
