Abstract
In the nursing discipline, particularly in the adoption and application of a theoretical model to the practice of the profession, one can find different professional perspectives. These perspectives vary according to the professional model adopted when carrying out the process of nursing care.
This work is based on the application of Dorothea Orem\'s theoretical model in a case related to a patient diagnosed with bladder cancer who will undergo complex surgery that will involve some significant adjustments in his life.
In the care plan, a particular care deficit due to the direct relationship with the adaptations that the patient must carry out, and its psychosocial approach by nurses is selected.
