Abstract

The nursing methodology is the instrument to ensure orderly implementation of scientifically supported knowledge in the care process.
To determine priorities in the care plan it is necessary to carry out a systematic assessment of patient needs and identify health problems. Nursing diagnosis is the key concept in the nursing methodology which identifies and describes a human response or the patient's perception of themselves or of their health and allows to set goals (or expected outcomes) and specific nursing interventions.
From the 1960's, several nursing theorists and organizations have attempted to systematically classify nursing diagnoses in a single taxonomy, enabling comparison of different plans of care between nurses, provinces, communities and even countries. This approach allows tailoring professional quality health care and research. In 2009 in the School of Nursing at the University of Granada, a teaching innovation project started to allow students the acquisition of skills in solving case studies with nursing methodology. This project was called Project LNNT (Learning of Nursing Nomenclature and Taxonomy) and is based on solving real clinical cases. The results presented today refer to the last year of the project.
