Abstract

Sex is one of the main subjects of conversations between university students. Maybe because there are still lots of misconceptions and myths about it.
This article is a study in the optional subject "Human Sexual Response", taught in 3rd year of the Bachelor of Nursing at the School La Fe (Valencia). It deals with sex and its myths, focusing on a university population of Valencia (twenty people). We treated many aspects unknown to the young, checking the existence of some misconceptions about sexuality in young university students, making a comparison differentiating the various branches of knowledge.
Using the methodology of the survey, some controversial and complex topics like pregnancy, contraception, sexuality in men and women, homosexuality, masturbation, premature ejaculation, etc. have been addressed. The results show that men obtained an error rate in knowledge somewhat higher than women.
In addition, it showed the existence of old taboos and myths that sexology, medicine and psychology created many years ago. It also proposes strategies to improve the transmission of knowledge about sexuality, appropriate to the age of the recipient.
