Contact email: bmartinez@usj.es Abstract The learning-service method is an educational tool intended to promote learning through student active involvement in experiences associated to a community service. Such a method allows students to have a direct relationship with people having been offered a service, so that their specific needs can be taken into account and a real experience can be obtained. Such an experience is frequently very different from those in the classroom. In turn, learning-service method creates an interest for cooperative actions, citizenship education, and other issues. Thus, learning-service is a suitable tool to promote links between educational institutions and community.
