Abstract

Introduction: he COVID-19 pandemic has generated many changes in all areas of society. Likewise, it has resulted in countless consequences in care for pregnant women, particularly in the psychological and emotional levels, not only for them but also for their companions and midwives.

Objectives: the objective of this study is to understand the experiences of pregnant women, their companions and midwives, during the healthcare modified due to the COVIDpandemic.

Method: a critical review of literature was conducted, including those articles published from March 2020 until February 2022.

Results and conclusions: pregnant women felt misinformed and abandoned, and reported great fear and stress among other feelings. On the other hand, their companions felt isolated from the process, with great stress and impotence, because they were excluded from pregnancy consultations and from accompanying their partners during the hospital stay. And the midwives caring for these pregnant women were afraid of any potential contagion for themselves or their families, and referred sadness and powerlessness when faced with difficulties to offer quality care due to changes in protocol, lack of knowledge, and other situations.
