Abstract
An unfavourable evolution of pressure ulcers can agravate the prognosis of the critical patient. Therefore the treatment of pressure ulcers should be manteined as an objective of nursing investigation. A cohort study from November, 1,1995 to November, 30, 1996 was informed, whose objectives were to facilitate healing of the ulcers and to prevent their progression. A treatment protocol was designed. The sample were 139 critical patients and the protocol was implemented on patients who were assigned to even number beds. Those patients who were assigned toold number beds received standard nursing care. The instrument used to register ulcer progress was the same forboth groups. Chi square test was used for statistical analyses. The results showed that the pressure ulcers evolution were significantly difference between groups and the efficacy of the applied protocol was demostrated.
