Abstract

This trial presents a brief reflexion on the nature of nursing science, its methods and its outcomes. Firstly, the historical trajectory of the Nursing concept of science is provided to explain the meaning of this concept. Subsequently, nursing is compared with different “science models” by emphasizing its similarities and differences, in order to provide a more comprehensive approach to this concept. More in-depth information is then presented on the methods used to produce scientific knowledge and its outcomes, from the point of view of Nursing. Lastly, theory and practical science are compared in an attempt to explain their mutual need within the field of nursing.
