Abstract

We are inmersed in the knowledge society, in a more and more global world, where technology and communications are rendering out of date the paradigms of space and time. All this,far from being a threat, should be a goal that drives the development of nursing profession.

Thought is given to the necessity of incorporating new outlooks and forgetting some of the old ones in order to design the professional for the future. The analysis of some features that have been considered clues for the new designis showed: the markets; the working environments; the professional; the organizations; the unions and the policies. In this article only the two first ones are presented. The rest ofthem will be show in the second part of the article.
