Abstract

This clinical experience was carried out in 1997 and 1998, at several healthcenters located at Zaragoza. Patients with chronic venous ulcers all of thenresisted at a traditional treatment were treated with compression therapy by low stretch bandages or by UlcerCare®System, combined with a localwound care with a slightly adhesive hydroactive foam dressing (CutinovaFoam®). The skin of the legs was also treated applying a moisturizing 3%urea lotion (Skinceran®3%). All venous ulcers were healed within 7 weeks(rang 1,5-20 weeks). This experience confirms what others authors haveshown: a graduated compression combined with a local moist woundcare allows for rapid healing in most venous ulcer within a mean time of12 weeks, but never more than 24 weeks.
