Abstract

Many studies have analysed the psychopathologic consequences of themedical-related professions, including medical doctors and nurses.

Since 1977, when Burnot’s syndrome was described, wide number ofpublications have aimed to determine whether stress exists in the medicalenvironment. Less information is available about the consequences of thiswork-related stress.

The present study included a sample of 80 medical and non-medicalprofessionals working at the Army Hospital in Burgos, Spain. To collectsociodemographic variables a specific protocol was Goldberg’squestionnaire (Lobo et al., 1981) was used to test the mental health statusselected.

The results indicated the existence of a good general mental healthamong these professionals; the 10% of the subjects shown possiblepsychological impairment.
