Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this paper is to describe and analyze thescientific publications related with Midwifery specialty that has beenpublished in Spanish nursing magazines since 1980.

Method and Material:A descriptive study has been done in order to achieve this objective.296 references have been collected from 1980 to 1998 whose subjectswere related with the midwifery specialty.The data has been analyzed with the Epi-Info program.

Results:
– Matronas Hoy, was the nursing magazine in which more subjectsrelated to the midwifery specialty have been published, followed by thejournal Rol de Enfermería.
– There were more published papers by authors that were working inSpecialized Attention in both studied decades.
– The authors related with educational activity increased in the 90's asmuch from the Nursing Schools as from the new Education Units ofMidwives.
– It was a progressive increase of the publications in the 90's, thepercentage was 76,7%, against to the 23,3% of the 80's.
– In a global form, the topic funded to be more treated was labor.
– Midwives signed 71% of works, with o without collaboration of otherprofessionals.
– A bibliographic base has been created using 296 articles that have beensubdivided into 23 different subjects from 1980 to 1998.
