Abstract

This research study was designed to investigate the degree ofjob satisfaction of professional nurses in a geriatrichospitalization unit, specifically Hospital Febles Campos inSanta Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands.

A questionnaire including both closed and open responseswas designed and distributed among the target population.

The results of the survey were treated under descriptivestatistics using the R-Sigma program.

The results indicated that professional nurses felt a fairly highdegree of job-satisfaction caring geriatric patients, despitethe excessive workload referred by the professionals. However, the degree of job-satisfaction was considerablyhigher in the case of caring non-geriatric patients.
