Abstract

This study presents the results of the monitoring of 1419 patients with wounds treated with Varihesive® Gel Control.

Several types of wounds were included, being the pressure sores (44,0%) and the vascular ulcers (20,9%) the most prevalent ones among the population under study. The average wound dimensions were of 23,6 cm2 and 11mm deep, with an average evolution of 105 days.

77,3% of wounds achieved complete healing after an average of 33 days and 12,4 dressing changes.

The wounds not completely healed at the end of the monitorization period showed granulation tissue formation in 80,7% of the cases and, in these patients, wound size was reduced in more than a 50%.

The dressing was considered to be easy to apply and remove, consequently reducing pain associated to dressing changes, improving the mobility capabilities and the capacity to perform daily activities of the patients and leading, thus, to an improved quality of life.

The outstanding clinical results achieved, together with the high satisfaction level expressed by both patients and health professionals, define Varihesive® Gel Control as an excellent dressing for wound healing mangement.
