Abstract

In the patient with fibromyalgia there is an alteration in the clinical presentation and in the perception of pain. A vicious circle is thus established, described as : pain- anxiety- depression-tension-pain. In order to improve its symptoms it is important to interrupt this process.

The main objective of this work is to present the results derived from workshops conducted, the objective of which was to identify situations that may condition pain, and for the patients to learn alternatives therapies and to also assess the final outcome.

This prospective study included 50 patients (241 in total), and was carried out to measure pain progression in trigger points; pain intensity was measured by means of the VAS visual analogue scale, followed by a test to establish the factors that generate, worsen or improve the pain.

During the course of the workshops, techniques with complementary therapies have been taught to lessen the degree of pain in these patients.

IThe final test shows that its application has improved considerably the quality of life of these patients.
