Abstract
In recent years, the number of patients receiving anticoagulation treatment by mouth has increased significantly. In our country, approximately one out of every 200 people is being treated with this type of drugs, and most of them indefinitely. The benefit provided by oral anticoagulant therapy is directly related with the absence of complications. Follow up on the part of the specialist is not sufficient if it is not accompanied by adequate healthcare education. The aim of this paper is to review those special situations that are most frequently encountered by nursing professionals in primary care and how these situations can be resolved by the attending nurses.
