Abstract

The mission of the Spanish American Health Programme (EHAS) is to provide health service providers, located in certain rural areas of Cuba, Colombia and Peru, by means of IT technologies, a series of telemedicine and telecare services. These services are destined to improve the quality of the public health systems, such as clinical capacitation through an e-based health concept and to improve the efficacy of some processes considered key processes through the automation of their interfaces. From the “Foundation for Health and International Cooperation Carlos III” of the Health and Welfare Ministry, a research and generation of knowledge project is being coordinated covering aspects in the line of health, assurance of quality of the processes and services provided and the evaluation of the healthcare technologies employed.
