Abstract

The prevalence of ulcers in the lower extremity is between 0,1 and 0,3% in the general population, these values duplicating in people over the age of 65. These ulcers are lesions that negatively affect the quality of life of those who suffer them, in this case an 84 year old male who was completely autonomous in carrying out instrumental and basic activities of daily living and who developed an ischemic ulcer on the external side of his right foot’s small toe.
In order to deliver the best Nursing care, a comprehensive assessment of the patient was performed, which enabled the detection of the risk factors associated with his pathological process (diabetes mellitus, peripheral arteriopathy), algia management, performance of wound care in a humid environment and the disciplinary interrelationship between Primary Care and Hospital Care.
