Abstract

Motherhood is a turning point in the emotional development of any woman. When it occurs in unfavorable conditions, usually in adolescence, it can trigger various economic, psychological and social conflicts. Depending on the age range in which the pregnancy occurs, the teen will face her new condition in different ways and her psychosocial development will be affected in different ways. This paper focuses on adolescents who had not included pregnancy as part of their life and it
represents an obstacle in their psychosocial development. Midwives should be aware, in addition to the physical aspects involved, that teenage pregnancy is considered of risk and support and advice to these women will help reduce complications of their psychosocial development, proper establishment of mother-child bond and therefore, a favorable future development of the mother-child relationship. The aim of this paper is to attempt to illustrate the emotions of teenage mothers, how their pregnancy affects their self-esteem and school and job development as well as the personal journey that each one makes to psycho-affectionate maturity.
