Abstract
The nursing diagnosis has been considered essential as a basis for prescribing nursing interventions. However, it must be taken into account that any clinical diagnosis refers to a problem that the diagnosed person has. Studies carried out on diagnostic accuracy in nursing, using NANDA taxonomy, suggest low levels of agreement among professionals. The massive use of nursing diagnoses, due to their inclusion in the computerized records, requires improved accuracy. For this, different authors recommend research aimed at developing valid and reliable instrument to facilitate the nursing diagnosis statement with standardized language.
This article provides an overall view through the concept of nursing diagnosis, their history, classifications, employment issues and proposals for improvement in areas of research and clinical practice. It also presents the Teide algorithm, as an aid to the establishment of clinical diagnosis in nursing.
