Abstract

The National Consensus Conference on Lower Limb Ulcers (CONUEI) defines these as “a lesion in the lower limb, either spontaneous or accidental, with etiology in a pathological condition either systemic or associated with the limb, and which does not heal within the expected time period”. Compressive therapy is essential for addressing advanced chronic venous insufficiency in an adequate manner. The present case involves a female patient with chronic venous insufficiency in its more advanced stage (Stage III in the Widner Scale), with development of ulcerations and various associated complications (diabetes, obesity, skin graft), who was treated with compressive therapy. The patient started to experience an improvement in her symptoms almost from the start of treatment, with reduction in pain, oedema and swelling; and she had a remission of her ulcer, which was completely closed within six months, thus showing the beneficial effect of the therapy used.
