Abstract
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children registered in the Autonomous Community of Madrid (ACM).
Method: a transversal descriptive study, based on the clinical records of all the paediatric population assigned to all health centres (HCs) in the ACM.
Results: there were 8,100 cases (1.13%) registered within a population of 708,395 children. This record presents many variations between different Care Managements (CMs) and between HCs within the same Care Management (coefficient of variation from 0.10 to 0.61).
Conclusions: the prevalence of ADHD registered in Primary Care clinical records in Madrid is overall very low, and with a great difference between each one of the HCs. These differences don’t seem to be attributable to the population, but to the different clinical and patient care criteria of healthcare professionals. It is considered necessary to implement an autonomic protocol of action for ADHD, developed by the Regional Ministries of Education and Health from the ACM, by consensus with the associations of ADHD patients, and reinforced by periodical training interventions.
