Abstract

Objective: to examine the concept of digital transformation in the healthcare setting through the analysis of the current status of scientific literature, following the Wilson method of concept analysis.
Method: first of all, different search strategies were designed in order to locate and retrieve research articles through databases such as Medline, Scopus and Cinahl; and on the other hand, there was a search for grey literature using search engines such as Google and DuckDuckGo. Once documentation was obtained, there was concept analysis as described by Wilson and subsequently developed by Avant, following each of the 11 steps presented.
Results: the concept is initially formed by two words, and their combination as “digital transformation” obtains the following definition: “process of change through the use of information in digital format, or in other words non-analog”.
Conclusions: results have clarified the meaning of digital transformation to help professionals to understand and address this action in all its dimensions, and to promote the implementation of a digital transformation, which is not only obtained by digitizing but also by creating a strategy that adds value.
