    Abstract

Objective: to map in the literature the use of artificial intelligence-based tools in the education of nursing students.

Methods: this is a scoping review guided by the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewer’s Manual, conducted in seven electronic databases and repositories of theses and dissertations. The protocol for this review was registered in the Open Science Framework. The results were managed using the Rayyan software for title and abstract screening, full-text selection, and duplicate removal. Since the study used public data, ethical committee approval was not required.

Results: the 13 analyzed studies demonstrate a positive impact of various AI-based tools in nursing education. Tools such as ePULab, virtual reality simulations, and high-fidelity technologies improved students' knowledge acquisition and technical skills. Virtual counseling applications and chatbots enhanced communication skills interactively. Additionally, tools like Deepgram and ChatGPT provided personalized feedback, contributing to a safer and more immersive learning environment, strengthening clinical practice with greater confidence among participants. Conclusion: with technological advancements, AI-based tools are increasingly being used to improve communication and expand information dissemination, including in academic training.
