Abstract

Introduction: the pedagogical practices of nursing teachers play a key role in higher education by influencing disciplinary learning and the development of ethical, reflective, and human skills and competencies.

Objective: this study aims to understand pedagogical practices in nursing as an ethical, social, and disciplinary phenomenon based on scientific publications from 2019 to 2025.

Methods: a structured thematic review using reflective thematic synthesis of data derived from qualitative research, coding, and network generation to identify emerging thematic categories.

Results: 42 articles were selected and analyzed, enabling the identification of research trends regarding the understanding of pedagogical practices and the identification of interactions in the conceptual and theoretical approaches of nursing research and scientific publications. Five categories were identified: pedagogy of care, situated clinical teaching, educator identity, didactic mediations, and critical pedagogical practice.

Conclusion: the analyzed articles highlight that addressing pedagogical practices requires conscious reflection, pedagogical and didactic mastery, the use of technology, a critical stance toward prevailing educational norms, a connection between theory and practice, and a strong social and political awareness. These dimensions shape a pedagogical approach that seeks to ensure a more just, equitable, and inclusive education.
