Abstract

Objective: to determine the prevalence of the burnout syndrome in the work group of primary care nursing professionals in the Galician Health System (SERGAS).
Methodology: a cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out where the studied subjects were all primary care nurses working at the SERGAS. Data were collected using the self-administered anonymous Font Roja Questionnaire, which contains 24 questions grouped into 9 factors that explore all the dimensions of work satisfaction, as well as a sociodemographic survey. The answers were analysed using the t Student test and the Chi square test.
Results: response rate was 37%. Mean age of respondents was 39,57 (DS±12,61), with a predominance of female nurses (71,43%), married (68%), with practice in rural areas (85,71%), with an interim contract (46,83%) and a mean association of work life to public health of 14.701 years(DS±9,62) at the time of the survey. Overall satisfaction was 2.59 (DS±0,93). the item with the highest score was professional competence and the one with the lowest score was status professional status.
Conclussions: overall satisfaction found in the study is in the medium range of values, which matches with that of other works of similar characteristics carried out.
