Abstract

This article depicts an education strategy undertaken in a group of adolescents in a high school in the city of Colmenar Viejo (Madrid). The objectives of the project were: To contribute towards each adolescent making use of his or her sexuality, while focusing on individuality and diversity, to help them learn how not to anticipate problems, and to work on promoting their attitudes on respect and tolerance regarding sexuality. The methodology employed focused on investigation techniques in the classroom, analysis exposition, and skill development. The assessment of the strategy was clearly positive, with a high rate of participation and open discussion from the adolescents. The teaching staff was not actively involved and teacher participation was rather scarce. The continuity of this type of experience, as well as the approach used which involved different professionals and institutions, are necessary strategies to ensure a successful outcome.
