The Department of Nursing and the Alican School of Nursing transformed an educational macroactivity, the Health Week, into a learning experiential platform: the subject known as “Intervention and community participation: Health Week”, in the year 2000. This subject, by the completion of a practicum, facilitates the development of reflective thinking in the student, his or her experiential learning and the integration of knowledge, reaching competencies as educator of the community. The aim of this article is to contribute with the experience of this subject´s development and the reflections made by the students about it after the completion of the Health Week practicum.
