Abstract

Reflexiveness is an essential matter in qualitative research, because it works with the subjectivity of persons from the subjectivity of the researcher. It allows researchers to acknowledge their role, the positioned nature of their research, and to assess their own impression or mark on the final research outcomes.
The reflexive process is present in all levels of a research study, from the research question to the final report preparation. A reflexive position informs the way in which the researcher conducts the research, their relationship with participants, and how these are represented in reports.
The present article shows how the process of writing the report about the outcomes of a qualitative research will encourage the use of reflexiveness, by illustrating it with the specific case of a research study; and how writing is a road which helps to build the researcher self.
